Nancy’s Aria - Blind Injustice
Nancy’s introductory aria from the Scott Davenport Richards’ new opera, Blind Injustice, which premiered at Cincinnati Opera. Nancy Smith was wrongfully convicted for child molestation in the 1990s. Here we observe her first encounter with the interviewer and the audience. The speaking lines are various characters in her flashback to her trip to the police station.
Once Upon a Time: A Virtual Recital
Performance duo Opera in Overalls is pleased to present “Once Upon a Time” to the Kentucky NATS family. Premiering on Friday October 23rd at 7:15PM EST, this virtual recital is an exploration of the child’s perspective through classical art song. The program includes music by Leonard Bernstein, Gustav Mahler, Florence Price, Eric Whitacre, Modest Mussorgsky, Gustav Holst, and Felix Mendelssohn. The Opera in Overalls team utilizes principles of devised theatre (adapted for the virtual world) to weave together a playful and imaginative experience that expands the traditional recital format.
